Gingerbread Embroidery Finish

I finished my gingerbread house!  I first blogged about this project {here}.  As I noted in that post, I stitched the entire project in perle cotton floss.

I ended up using nine different stitches on this project.  They are:
The Satin Stitch for all the gumdrops, the stripes on the candy canes and the door knob.
The Double Knot Stitch for the roof outline.
French Knots on the roof and scalloped eave.
The Whipped Back Stitch for the round candies, the roof lines, and the door panels.
The Whipped Blanket Stitch  for the door frame.  Couching for the inside of the two fudge sickles and over the Cross Stitches at the base of the house.
Back Stitch for the house pillars, the sucker sticks, and the base line.
Straight Stitch for the diagonal lines on the sucker sticks.

The gingerbread house motif is from the embroidery pattern set Gingerbread.

I used a vibrant color palette consisting of five different colors.

Here are the color numbers:

Gingerbread Embroidery Design

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a picture of my current stitching project...a gingerbread house!

I am stitching the entire piece in perle cotton floss.

I love the bright candy colors.  When I finish this piece, I will make sure to post the floss numbers for my color palette.

Gingerbread House Embroidery Part One

A few weeks ago, I shared a photo on Instagram of an embroidery project in progress.

I want to make sure I blog about this project as well!
I am embroidering one of the gingerbread houses from my gingerbread embroidery pattern set.

I am using this bright, candy inspired color palette:

So far, I have outlined the house in Back Stitch

and outlined the door and the roof edge in Whipped Back Stitch:

I am using Straight Stitches in alternating colors for the path way stones:

This is what I have done so far...I will keep posting my progress on this project and update you on the floss color numbers I use as well.

Getting Ready

Are you starting to get ready for all your Christmas and holiday season stitching?  I am!  I have quite a few sewing projects in the works.
I am looking over all my metallic floss and seeing if I need to add more colors:

I am planning some embroidery projects...

and starting to stitch some embroidery projects.  I love this time of year.

Gingerbread house completed

Remember my gingerbread house wip?  I finished it!

Well, the stitching is finished anyway :)

I really like the pastel colors on this one

Can you see the sparkle in the gingerbread frosting?

I used my new favorite blending filament to add some sparkle.  I love this!!!

I didn't use too many advanced stitches, mainly back stitch and french knots.  For the candy tree trunk I used the open chain stitch.  I had to go back and review my own 100 Stitches post to remember how to do it!

I am really happy with the way this turned out!

Now I just have two more gingerbread houses left to transfer and stitch:

Here is a list of the beautiful floss colors I used for this project:

Gingerbread Houses

I am stitching up another gingerbread house. I am using some interesting color combinations with this one.  Do you like the rosy pink color with the lavender and pink?  I am just getting started so there is still time to change colors!

You may remember these three already completed houses - actually two cottages and a town house ;)

I am really liking this new one, especially with the upstairs balcony.   I am adding my new favorite blending filament floss to add some sparkle to the "frosting" on the eaves and roof!  After I finish stitching this, I have two more houses to complete and when those are done I'm going to plan out a design for a quilt similar to this one.

Gingerbread wip - almost finished!

I have been working on this elaborate little gingerbread house embroidery project:

You might remember in my first wip post for this project, I was detailing all the different stitches I was using.

I am now finished with all the stitching!

The only new stitch I added is the split stitch that I used for the candies that make up the roof tiles:

I don't really know what I am going to do with this.  I stitched it on a nice piece of quilters weight cotton.  The fabric piece measures 15" x 16" so I have a lot to work with.

I also have these beautiful trims:

and five more gingerbread house patterns.  I would like to make a sort of series project.  I have stitched three so far, this one that I just finished, the gingerbread townhouse and the little woodland cottage . I could make...maybe a series of stitched pictures for the holidays? Perhaps a series of pillows or maybe a gingerbread themed quilt top?  I would love to hear any suggestions!

Here are the floss colors I used:

Progress report...

Remember this wip? Well, I have made a bit of progress on it!

The last time I posted about this, I had started the candy canes and finished the swirly candy.  For the swirly candy I used the whipped running stitch - I love the effect it gives!

For the second candy, I decided to use the couching stitch.  It is a fun stitch to do and I love the look of it:

Here is the couching stitch completed:

and now a close up of the completed candy canes in the long and short stitch:

Almost done!  I am just finishing this third candy which I am doing in back stitch:

I will post a picture of the finished project I make out of this soon. I have some ideas involving trim...

Two gingerbread stitchings

I have two new stitchings I am working on. This group of yummy candy:
and this sweet gingerbread house:
Both of these are from the Gingerbread Embroidery Pattern Packet
On both of these, I am using some interesting stitches.  The candy canes are the long and short stitch and the swirly candy is the whipped running stitch.  I am using dmc pearl cotton floss size 5 for this:
On the gingerbread house, I am using the whipped running stitch in minty green and chocolate brown floss. I think it looks like chocolate chip mint frosting!
For the candy decoration on the side of the house I am using the checkered chain stitch in red and white - and I'm sure by now you recognize the whipped running stitch in pink and purple around the door:
On the foundation line of the house I am using the double knot stitch...sort of unevenly - looking at this picture, I'm thinking I may have to go back and restitch the left side as there are too many knots too close together!
Did you notice that I have partially stitched different areas all over this pattern?  I find that I like to jump around and try out different colors and stitches to see how they are working together.   I prefer to do that rather than complete one area and then move on to the next...I wonder if that is the case for most stitchers?
I will be back with more progress pictures later!
