Summer Kitchen Towel Part Two

I finished my summer kitchen towel.  If you read the first post about this project, you will see that I made a few changes.   Instead of using the Back Stitch for the sun's rays:

I used the Pistil Stitch:

Then I added French Knots in a warmer golden yellow floss between each Pistil Stitch.

For the horizontal lines on either side of the sun, I used the Chain Stitch

I also went with the solid yellow ribbed trim tape, instead of the yellow and black tape.

I hand stitched the trim tape just above my hem top stitching.  I used yellow sewing thread to Whip Stitch the tape in place:

I have another motif from this set that I am currently embroidering.  When I finish, I will detail it in a future post.

Tulip Stitch

Time for another 100 Stitches Plus post.  This simple decorative stitch is known as the Tulip Stitch.

For my demonstration, I am using perle cotton floss.  This is DMC color variations number 4200.

This stitch is made up of a Lazy Daisy Stitch and three Straight Stitches.

Summer Kitchen Towel Project - Part One

I am making a new kitchen or tea towel.  For the embellishments, I am embroidering this sun motif

and using some yellow trim tape for the hem:

I have the center of the sun finished.  I used the Stem Stitch for the outside of the circle and Back Stitch to fill it in.  This yellow and white floss is color variations perle cotton from DMC - the number is 4077.

It matches perfectly with my trim tapes.

I am looking forward to finishing this project and I will post my progress!

Sparkly Fish Embroidery

I really enjoyed embroidering these sparkly fish!  They are embellished with sequins, beads and metallic floss.
