Works-in-Progress

I have three works-in-progress to share.  These motifs are from the Thanksgiving and the Sly Fox pattern sets:

All three have been transferred to fabric and I am stitching them in beautiful autumnal shades

I will post stitch and floss color palette information soon!

Thanksgiving Embroidery Design - Gather

I embroidered this using a pattern from my Thanksgiving hand embroidery pattern set.

The oval embroidery hoop is perfect for the horizontal layout of this "gather" motif

The letters are all stitched using Back Stitch.  The wheat is Lazy Daisy Stitch, Straight Stitch, and Stem Stitch for the stems. The ribbon is Back Stitch.

Here are the floss color numbers I used in this palette.

Embroidered Pumpkin Project - Part Three

I have an update on my pumpkin project.  {Part 1 / Part 2} I have finished the embroidering!

There are quite a few interesting stitches used, and I would like to share my stitch list as well as the floss colors and numbers.

The pumpkin body is stitched using columns of long Straight Stitches.  The center rib section is Jacobean Couching Stitch.  The pumpkin body, stem and tendrils are outlined with Back Stitch.

The maple leaf is outlined with Back Stitch and filled with Straight Stitch.  The red and yellow small leaves  are Fishbone Stitch.  The red and the yellow oak leaves are Long and Short Stitch.  The veins of all the leaves are Back Stitch.  The Acorn body is Satin Stitch and the cap is Back Stitch and filled with French Knots.  The small accent flowers are Lazy Daisy Stitches with French Knot centers.

Here are the floss color numbers used for this project:

This pumpkin motif is available in my Thanksgiving Embroidery Pattern Set.  You can find that set - here.

Embroidered Pumpkin Project - Part One

In a previous post {here}, I mentioned that the next motif I was planning to embroider was this pumpkin.  This is from my Thanksgiving embroidery pattern set.

I am going to use the Jacobean Couching Stitch to fill the pumpkin.  I hope this will look good and not too busy! I started on one section and as you can see, I used large Straight Stitches under the diagonal lines that will be couched.  There is a lot going on and there are six more sections to fill on the pumpkin.

I am also starting in on some Christmas projects.  I will post some updates on these new projects as well!

Thanksgiving Embroidery Wheat Sheaf Border Project

This wheat sheaf border is another of the motifs from my Thanksgiving embroidery pattern set.

This was a very easy embroidery project and did not take me long to stitch.

I used simple stitches on this project.  The wheat heads are done with Straight Stitch and Lazy Daisy Stitch.  The Straight Stitches are six strands of cotton floss, the Lazy Daisies are done with perle cotton floss. The wheat stalks are done with Stem Stitch - in three strands of cotton floss.  The center heart is done with Double Knot Stitch using three strands of cotton floss.

Here are the color numbers for the floss I used:

Now which of these should I start embroidering next?  I really like the pumpkin!

Thanksgiving Embroidery Give Thanks Project

If you remember from my last post, I had just finished the embroidery on this Thanksgiving motif.

Now I want to share the stitches I used and color palette information for this project.  The circular border is done with Stem Stitch.  The text is done with Back Stitch  The green leaves are done with Fishbone Stitch.  The leaf and berry stems are done with Stem Stitch.  The maple and oak leaves are done with Long and Short Stitch.  The acorns are done with Back Stitch and the berries and brown accent dots are done with French Knots:

Here are the colors and DMC color numbers that I used:

I also wanted to point out the beautiful ground fabric I used for this project.  Instead of my usual quilter's weight cotton I used 100% linen:

I found this linen to be a perfect weave and weight for embroidering.  The only drawback to this wonderful fabric is that I cannot see through it to transfer the image I want to stitch!

This wasn't really a problem, I just used some carbon/graphite transfer paper and a stylus to transfer the image to my fabric.  If you want to see this transferring process in depth, I posted about it here and here.

You can see how nicely the carbon paper transferred the image - very easy to see the lines!

My next project is this wheat sheaf motif:

I have a new pattern set available in my shop!  This one is titled Thanksgiving

This pattern set has 10 pages of Thanksgiving themed motifs.

Last week, I shared an image on Instagram showing a screen shot of my drawings for this pattern in progress:
