Beach House Welcome Sign Project - Part Two

 You may remember my previous post involving this Welcome project from my Beach House embroidery pattern set.  

I stitched the same anchor and text in three different color palettes:

I used a rusty pink {DMC 3778}and a light pink {DMC 3326} for this one:  

Seafoam green for the anchor {DMC 954}dark tan {DMC 729} and sand {DMC 738}for the rope and the text is a variegated perle cotton {DMC 4128}.

This one is navy blue {DMC 158} white {DMC Blanc} and bright red {DMC 349}:

My favorite is the red, white and blue.  

Beach House Welcome Sign Project - Part One

I have a work in progress to share!  Actually, several: 

This Welcome motif is from my Beach House embroidery pattern set.  I just finished stitching this in a sea-green and camel color palette.  I still need to rinse out my transfer marks:

Next, I am going to stitch this in a red/white/blue/gray palette 

and finally an ocean blue/pink/coral palette:

I am looking forward to seeing which color palette I like the best!  Do you think I should use the same stitches on all three?...still deciding.

Embroidered Beach Pillow Project - Part One

This beautiful linen is going to be made into a pillow cover.  First, I am embroidering some beach theme motifs on each side.  This "Beach" text inside an arrow and the line of starfish are both from my Beach House embroidery set.  

To transfer these motifs to my fabric, I would usually put them under the fabric and trace on top of the fabric with my water soluble marker.  However, since I can't see through this thick linen, I need to use another method:

Tracing paper {or carbon transfer paper} works perfectly for this application.  

To transfer, I put the tracing paper on my fabric {notice the shiny side is against the fabric and the dull side is facing up.  Then I put the motif on top and start tracing.  I have this stylus for tracing, but I have also used a ball point pen and it works just fine.

I tape the layers of fabric, tracing paper, motif down with removable tape.  This washi tape works perfectly:

The image transferred clearly and now I can start stitching! 

I haven't chosen my floss colors yet, I am thinking a combination of these blues:

Seahorse Embroidery Design - Part Two

 

I finished my seahorse embroidery project.  I stitched this seahorse onto a table napkin.

I added some beautiful trim to the napkin hem:

Here are the stitch and color details for this project. The starfish is Fishbone Stitch .  

The seahorse is filled with rows of Split Stitch .  His mane and fin are Blanket Stitch.  His eye is Satin Stitch surrounded by Back Stitch.  The accent lines are Stem Stitch and Back Stitch.  All of the bubbles are Satin Stitch.

For his tail, the accent lines are Straight Stitch with French Knots:

You might notice some sparkly threads woven throughout to add highlights and also on the bubbles.  I used gold metallic and number 001 blending filament from Kreinik.

Seahorse Embroidery Design - Part One

I have a work in progress to share.  I am embroidering this seahorse motif onto a white cotton fabric table napkin.  

This is my planned color palette, I may change a few of these or add new colors as I progress.  

Notice the spool of shiny thread?  This is blending filament - Kreinik number 001.  It is iridescent -  perfect for a seahorse or starfish!

I will update my progress soon. 

Sailboat Embroidery

I recently finished embroidering this sailboat motif.  I used soft colors, especially for the sails and the boat.

I used three very basic stitches on this project.  The sails are outlined in Back Stitch and filled with Straight Stitch.  The pennant banner is done with Stem Stitch and Straight Stitch.  The boat is outlined and accented with Stem Stitch.  There are a few filling lines of Straight Stitch.

Sparkly Fish Embroidery

I really enjoyed embroidering these sparkly fish!  They are embellished with sequins, beads and metallic floss.  

Life Is Better At The Beach Embroidery Project

The embroidery is all done on this project from my Beach House pattern set.

I used seven different stitches.  

The circle outline is Double Knot Stitch.   The starfish are Fishbone Stitch.  

The "life" text is a combination of Blanket Stitch, Back Stitch, Stem Stitch and a French Knot.

The text "is better at the" is also a combination of Back Stitch, Stem Stitch and a French Knot.
The "Beach" text is all Stem Stitch.  
The clam shell is outlined with Back Stitch and Stem Stitch.  The inside has French Knots and Straight Stitches: 

 The color palette for this project is so pretty!  I think the colors match some of the beautiful shades found in beach glass.

Beach House Embroidery Pattern

I have a new embroidery pattern set available in my shop!  

I am currently stitching several of the motifs from this set.

I am making good progress! I will do a post with all the stitches used and also the floss color numbers. 

Here are some other stitching projects I am working on from this pattern set:

I especially love this sea turtle surrounded by bubbles.  I plan on using a color palette of greens and blues.
