Butterfly Garden Embroidery Project

 This embroidery is from my Butterfly Garden pattern set.  

This is a fairly good sized motif, 5.5" vertically and 5" horizontally.  

All of the stems are done with Stem Stitch.  The green leaves are Fish Bone Stitch and the blue leaves are Lazy Daisy Stitch.

The lilac colored dots are French Knots.  The lilac and green flowers are Straight Stitch, with their tops edge outlined by Double Knot Stitch.  The flower pistils are done with Pistil Stitch. The tiny leaves under the flower are Straight Stitch. For the butterfly, his wing tops are outlined with Stem Stitch and his antennae are Pistil Stitch.  He has French knots across his wings. His wing spots are Straight Stitch.  The leaf vein lines in the green leaves are also Straight Stitch.

Butterfly Embroidery

This beautiful butterfly is from my Butterfly Garden pattern set.  

I used a variety of stitches on this.  For the flowers, I used Straight Stitch around the flower frame and French Knots for the centers:

The leaves are stitched with the Fish Bone Stitch.  The stems are appropriately done with Stem Stitch!

The butterfly head and body are Satin Stitch and his antennae are Double Knot Stitch:

The wings are outlined {from top to bottom} with Double Knot Stitch, Blanket Stitch and Stem Stitch:

They are filled with Seeding Stitch and Satin Stitch:

I used six strand DMC cotton embroidery floss in various strand amounts.  Here are the color numbers in the project palette:

Butterfly Embroidery Projects

This black and grey butterfly is stitched from another motif included in my Butterfly Garden embroidery pattern set.  I introduced this set in my previous blog post.  

He is stitched with Lazy Daisy stitches in an ombre color effect from black to light gray.  For his body, I used a Couching Stitch couched with silver metallic floss.

Also, as I mentioned in my previous post, I want to share the stitch and color information for the butterfly wreath.    
All of the stems are done with the Back Stitch.  The leaves are Fish bone Stitch.  The light and dark pink flowers and all flower centers are French Knots.  The random accent leaves are Lazy Daisy.  The light yellow starburst flower is formed with Straight Stitches:

Butterfly Garden Embroidery Pattern

This beautiful butterfly and flower wreath is from a new hand embroidery pattern set available in my Etsy shop!  The pattern set is called Butterfly Garden.
