I have a new hand embroidery pattern set available in my shop.  As you can see from the title, this one is called Lemons.  I love all the lemon themed motifs, and I just finished stitching this lemon tree topiary:

I will post my color numbers and stitches used in a later post.

Here is a look at the pattern packet:

Christmas Village Embroidery - Santa's cottage

I recently finished stitching this cottage from my Christmas Village pattern set.
This is actually on pale blue fabric, although the background looks white in my pictures!

Here are the stitch details for this project.  The trees are all done with layers of Lazy Daisy Stitch.  I combined two threads of pale green with one thread of white to give a snowy effect.  The holly leaves are Fishbone Stitch.  The holly berries and the roof lights are French Knots.

The snow, the snowflakes and the eave accents are all Straight Stitch*.   Everything else is Back Stitch and Stem Stitch.

I outlined the door and window with Whipped Back Stitch. The white x's on the door are Cross Stitch.

Here are the thread color numbers I used for this project:

*The Straight Stitch was not a good choice for the eave accents.  They are too long and now that this project is out of the hoop, the long Straight Stitches are too loose and shift out of place when I handle the fabric.  To correct this, I am going to couch them into place.

Thanksgiving Embroidery Design - Gather

I embroidered this using a pattern from my Thanksgiving hand embroidery pattern set.

The oval embroidery hoop is perfect for the horizontal layout of this "gather" motif

The letters are all stitched using Back Stitch.  The wheat is Lazy Daisy Stitch, Straight Stitch, and Stem Stitch for the stems. The ribbon is Back Stitch.

Here are the floss color numbers I used in this palette.

Torocko Stitch

I have a new stitch from my 100 Stitches list to share.  This is the Torocko Stitch.

Categorized as a filling stitch, the Torocko Stitch is made up of three sets of Straight Stitches.  I used three different colors of perle cotton thread.  I also drew a helpful square grid to keep everything evenly spaced.  Notice the blue dots, that is where my vertical and horizontal lines will start and stop:

The first step is to come up through the fabric at the top of the area to be filled:

Make a long vertical Straight Stitch by going down into the fabric at the bottom of the area to be filled:

Repeat those vertical stitches, evenly spaced as many times as needed to fill the space.

Now for the horizontal stitches.  Come up through the fabric on the right side of the area to be filled:

Make long horizontal Straight Stitches across the space:

The next step is to make upright crosses over the horizontal Straight Stitches:

Form these crosses using Straight Stitches:

Forming a cross at alternating rows and columns:

The final step is to make a small diagonal Straight Stitch at the center of each cross:

This stitch is from the book Embroidery Stitches by Mary Webb.

Knit and Crochet Love

This love motif is from my Knit and Crochet embroidery pattern set.

I am so happy with the embroidered version!

For the "yarn" I used Stem Stitch and for the text, Back Stitch.  The yarn ball is filled with Straight Stitch.

The floss used on the text and yarn is perle cotton.  The yarn ball is filled with 2 strands of 6 strand cotton floss.  The color for both the perle cotton and the 6 strand is DMC #3801.

Embroidered Beach Pillow Project - Part Two

I have an update to share on my embroidered pillow.  You may remember this project from a previous post.

The embroidery is all finished on the front pillow panel:

For the feather end of the arrow, I used the Pistil Stitch:

Next up is to do the back panel - this will have a row of star fish:

When I complete that, I will do a follow up post with all the stitch and thread color information.
