wip update...

I have an update of my very slow progress on my patisserie project:

I have stitched the awning on the patisserie in this bright pink floss.  I used chain stitch for the vertical stripes and back stitch for the edging.  I also added a french knot at the top of each scallop:

I am using black floss for the iron sign holder and I have stitched a yummy looking cake inside a cake dome.  I cannot decide what color I want the building to be.  Right now I am going with a light gray...I love pink and gray together!  What do you think?  I love to hear color ideas!

Speaking of color, did you notice this sweet notebook? My sister made it for me for Christmas.  Obviously, I love the colors she used...

and I have found the perfect use for it!  I have been keeping a color number record of the floss I use on each embroidery project. Looking back through the pages, I apparently really  love dmc  #604!

I haven't even started mine yet! It's next in line though, the macarons are calling me!
I was thinking grey for the building, then I read along and saw that's the direction you were thinking anyway. So, I say good call :-)

It is looking lovely so far, the colors are sweet and springy and your stitches are perfect!
May I ask, how many strands of floss are you using?
That little notebook is too cute and perfect for keeping record of the floss colors you use in your projects.
Have fun!

Hi Kim,

I like the grey too. You could even try a smidge darker shade. Love the cake! Can't wait to see what other colors you bring in. This will be gorgeous! These would make precious little place mats - especially mixed with the other designs.

Katie - Thank you! I can't wait to see what you do!
Thank you Simone! I love to go back and read through my old writing too!
Denise - Thank you!
Monika - Thanks! I am using six strands on the pink awning scallops and outline and three strands on the vertical pink chain stitch on the awning. For the cake I used three strands of brown floss, but six strands for the frosting/filling. The cake dome is three strands and the gray on the building is six strands. The black is also six strands. The black looks so much finer, I had to go back and count how many strands I was using!
Hi Bea - Thank you! I will keep updating my progress :)Farah - Thank you! I am enjoying using this notebook!
Thank you Angela - placemats - wonderful idea!!! I agree about the color -I thought I might experiment with a darker gray for the horizontal lines on the building - kind of like brick and mortar
