A quick progress report on the dog pattern that my grandma had. I had planned on scanning the pattern sheet but it is too big for my scanner...so I bought some tracing paper and I am going to trace the pattern pieces:So nice and transparent!Since this tracing paper is wide, 18", I can just tape it over the uncut pattern sheet and trace the individual pattern pieces:and then cut them out: I have labeled the individual pieces, 9 in total and now I will be able to work from these, rather than cutting up the original pattern sheet. The materials list for this project include 1/2 yard of 36" wide fabric, cotton batting for stuffing, six-strand embroidery floss, contrasting fabric for the tongue and nose, and two buttons for the eyes. Now I just need to select my fabric. The directions on the pattern sheet suggest using calico, cotton print, sateen, velvet, terry cloth, "a furry" ?!, or a plain cotton material. I would like to use fabric with a small print, maybe even a houndstooth check. I will keep posting my progress.
