Happy Valentines Day!

Wishing everyone a happy valentines day! These pretty pink hearts are outlined in the pekinese stitch. I think this stitch makes a lacy looking edge. It is reminding me of those old fashioned valentine chocolate gift boxes.

This is gorgeous. I love the Pekinese stitch. I used it for my elephant applique as part of my alphabet chart - http://thecraftersapprentice.blogspot.com/2010/08/applique.html if you are interested!

Farah - Thanks so much!
Wendy - Thanks! I have just been looking at your alphabet chart - Your goddaughter is going to love it! Your pekinese stitching around the elephant is super - that is such a great idea. I am really liking how versatile this stitch is turning out to be.
Hi Simone - Thank you! :)
thefairygardenerquiltstoo - hello and thanks! I wasn't familiar with this stitch either before I saw it in 100 Stitches, but now I really like it!
Libby - Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to stitch the pekinese stitch around these shapes.

I am attempting this stitch right now...and looked at the other post describing how you did it. Mine looks lacy to the left but not the right. Did you go through it twice to get the double lacy look?

Kim said...

Thanks lilipopo!
Hi Tonya! I think the lacy look comes from not pulling the "threading" floss very tight as you go back and forth under the back stitching. I kept mine VERY loose so that I could adjust it as I went along to make that lacy look. For these hearts, I kept it much looser than my pekinese stitch tutorial. I hope this makes sense - let me know how it works out! :)
