I have been picking them as they turned color but now I am picking the green ones and bringing them indoors to ripen. Here is my harvest so far. Yum!

Two projects and tomatoes
I am working on more gingerbread projects! I am currently stitching up this gingerbread house and this gingerbread border. First, notice that I am actually using the couching stitch and the satin stitch! The couching stitch is the stitch I used for the sides of the house. The satin stitch is used on the hearts on the shutters and the door. Now, notice the colors of the grass in front of the house and the lollipop on the left side of the door:I am mixing individual floss strands to create a swirly color effect. On one of my last posts, I was asking about color suggestions and Annie commented that I should try mixing floss together to come up with the right look. I took her suggestion and I mixed red (dmc #349) with white (dmc BLANC). I used three strands of each color:For the grass, I mixed green (dmc 910) and my favorite bright green (dmc #907) I also have a garden wip to share - my tomatoes are finally ripening!

Love the gingerbread house! Mixing the flosses is a great idea! I love how you are able to use different stitches in your pieces. I struggle with this, and do the same ole stem stitch.
p.s. I would love to be at your house having a tomato sandwich doing some stitching and watching the dogs play!!
Ginger bread house is tooo cute!! Thanks for sharing how you combined colors too:) I always forget I have that lovely option!
Thanks ladies! Libby - If you were here we would definitely be having that sandwich and stitching :) I'm sure the dogs would put on quite a show! I know what you mean about the same ole stitch! Mine is the back stitch.
Sara - it is a lovely option - I think it gives a nice look and a different look from the variegated floss. I really am enjoying putting colors together. I still need to do the trees and the other lollipop, so lots of opportunities!
Gingerbread house is Great!...I'm buying it soon!...Isn't it fun to mix the strands!...Endless options...Thanks for remembering me!...Your satin stitch is very nice...My same ole stitch is the stem stitch or outline stitch!...I'm envious of your tomatoes!...2 yrs. now I've planned on having garden tomatoes and somehow never get them planted in time! :/ Annie
Lookin' fabulous! Love the couching on the sides of the house. Enjoy your tomatoes! Try some fried green ones if some don't ripen. Surprisingly good!
I find mixing floss comes in handy when you don't have the right color on hand too. Once I needed a medium yellow, but I only had bright yellow and bright orange. And I tell ya, mixing the two made just the right shade I needed! Crazy, ain't it?
Thanks Annie! I really like doing the stem stitch too - it is so quick! I know what you mean about starting tomatoes soon enough! I was so happy this year to grow these early bloomer/ripen-ers. I am definitely going to grow these again next year.
Hi Gina - thank you! Mixing floss does come in handy. Right now I am trying to decide what floss to mix for the "trees" on either side of the house.
So cute! I just bought your cupcakes so the Gingerbread house might be next time! I love the way you've used couching stitch, I never think to use it but might give it a whirl now... Are you interested in seeing your patterns stitched up when I've finished them?
Hi Wendy! Thank you! I just emailed you the cupcakes packet. I would LOVE to see anything you stitch up!
