Blending filament on an Autumn wip

I'm just starting to stitch this autumn leaf border. Notice the sparkly addition to my floss?

It is blending filament!  I have three of these now - gold, silver and multicolor {you may remember the multicolor from this post}

I am using the gold along with this variegated pearl cotton floss.  I have these two fabrics, both are cotton and each has a cream colored background with a pattern in white.  They are both beautiful!  The fabric pictured on top has a small leaf motif and the fabric on the bottom has a heart and flower motif:

I decided to use the fabric with the small leaf motif:

I am using a leaf border from the Autumn pattern.  Perfect for this fabric!

I cut the border out and transferred it to the fabric with my water soluble pen:

and started stitching.  You can see the size difference between the blending filament and the pearl cotton.  I just love the added sparkle!

  2. What a coincidence! Just as you posted this, I was ripping out some stitches I'd done with embroidery floss and blending filament!! Due to what I was stitching, I was using 4 strands of floss, it turned out to be too bulky with the filament and just got tangled, so i still haven't really tried my blending filament!

  4. I love the added sparkle! I think that the gold is going to look great threaded through the leaves like that.

    That maltese stitch from your last post is wonderful! I am hoping one day I can sit and try some of the stitches that you share. You make them look so easy and they are so beautiful!

    Wendy - lol! I am stitching on another project and I am using one strand of regular floss and two strands of the blending filament - it is working really well so far and is so pretty. I would love to hear how you like using this when you try it again.

  7. I just blended for a Halloween stitchy. I loved the little bit of glitz it gave. I love the gold and red combo. I used silver and white for a ghost outline. I plan to show it next week. :)

  8. Kim, this is really pretty -- what a fun way to add *sparkle*!! Do you have to do anything different to keep your individual strands from twisting/knotting? :)
